It's officially fall, which means that trade show season has arrived. Attending a car wash trade show is an investment, and you'll want to make sure that you get the most out of your experience. Check out these trade show tips from three of our experts here at Zep Vehicle Care:

WHAT WOULD YOU SAY TO SOMEONE ATTENDING A CAR WASH SHOW FOR THE FIRST TIME?

For first time attendees I would recommend that they visit all the vendors with an open mind and collect any pertinent materials to take home and study. This is, after all, the best place to gather as much information from multiple vendors in one place.

WHAT CAN YOU GET FROM VISITING A TRADE SHOW THAT YOU CAN’T GET ANYWHERE ELSE?

When visiting a car wash trade show you’ll see all the different equipment and chemical manufacturers under one roof at the same time. This gives you the best opportunity to look closely at what is being offered, compare the differences and ask questions all at the same time. This is a unique opportunity to have full access to the best and most knowledgeable people in the industry all under one roof. 


WHY IS IT SO IMPORTANT TO ATTEND TRADE SHOWS?

Trade shows allow operators to stay current with the latest technology in the industry including equipment, chemistries, processes and market trends. If you don’t go, you may not know what’s out there!

WHAT WOULD YOU SAY TO SOMEONE ATTENDING A CAR WASH SHOW FOR THE FIRST TIME? 

Try to create an agenda for the specific vendors you want to visit, relative to your goals and objectives. There are many vendors displaying their products and service and this will help maximize your time based on your individual priorities. 

WHAT CAN YOU GET FROM VISITING A TRADE SHOW THAT YOU CAN’T GET ANYWHERE ELSE? 

I would encourage attendees to engage with other operators as they can gain a tremendous amount of personal and transparent feedback from an unbiased position.

Tradeshows offer a unique opportunity to meet and build relationships with exhibitors, interact with industry leaders, learn about what’s new in the car wash industry, and explore the latest products. If you’ve never been to a car wash tradeshow, now is a great time to visit one! Here are some attendee tips to help you maximize your time and investment while at the show.

  1. Do your research.

I’d start with making a list of specific vendors you want to visit and education sessions or seminars that you want to attend. Typically you can find a list of exhibitors and education sessions, if offered, on the official tradeshow website. It’s also a good idea to set an appointment with specific vendors that you want to meet with at the show prior to the show itself. That way you know you’ll guarantee your spot and have a better opportunity for good conversation.

  1. Attend an education session or seminar.

Education sessions can have a big impact on your business. They are a great way to get up to speed on what’s new in the industry and can provide insight on what others are doing to gain success. Education sessions are often offered for tradeshow attendees. If time allows, be sure to take advantage and attend the education sessions that are appropriate for you.

  1. Grab a bag.

If an exhibitor offers a free bag, pick one up. This little bag will be your lifesaver when you are carrying literature, research materials and goodies.   

  1. Have plenty of business cards.

Networking is a key value to going to a tradeshow. Bring plenty of business cards!
